Some of my past training includes

Prior to setting up this business, I held the role of Senior Investigator at the University of Cambridge. I was responsible for the investigation of a wide range of allegations, relating to academic and non-academic staff misconduct, grievances, and Dignity at Work matters.

This was a unique role within Higher Education. I undertook the initial review of allegations made against University staff and provided advice to HR professionals in the drafting of the investigation Terms of Reference. I conducted impartial and thorough investigations, completing factual, detailed reports, and made recommendations on whether there was a Case to answer or not.

I reviewed policies and procedures and, where relevant, made recommendations for organisational learning.

I delivered investigation training to University staff. I provided them with ongoing, expert advice, supporting them throughout the investigations they undertook.

Whilst at the University, I was instrumental in the setting up of a national “Employee Investigation Network”. This network was set up to share best practice with regard to employee relations and investigations, with over 80 Higher Educational establishments signed up.

Prior to working for the University of Cambridge, I worked for Essex Police for over 33 years.

I completed my 30-year policing career in 2019, having spent many years as an accredited detective. I retired at the rank of Detective Inspector. Throughout my career, I investigated and oversaw the investigation of many serious crimes.

I worked extensively in the Professional Standards Department with responsibility for investigating and managing serious allegations against police officers. This included internal conduct matters as well as complaints from the public.

I was the force lead on training senior detectives regarding the police response to a death, serious injury which had occurred during or following police contact. I worked with stakeholders such as the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC)

At the conclusion of my policing career, I became the Audit and Inspection Manager. I had responsibility for staff who conducted force-wide reviews into the quality of investigations, carried out by police officers. This included the force’s compliance with local and national policy and procedure. My role required me to brief Chief Officers, with the authority to make force-wide recommendations, with the intent of improving the quality of investigations and the service provided to the public.
